I In Aibreán 2021, ghlac Gaelscoil Mhainistir na Corann páirt sa chóras Erasmus+, a eascraítear ag Léargas, an gníomhaireacht náisiúnta atá freagrach as Erasmus+ san oideachas in Éirinn. Is é Erasmus+ tionscnamh na Conradh Eorpaí a bhfuil sé mar aidhm aige oideachas a fheabhsú ar fud na hEorpa.

In April 2021, Gaelscoil Mhainistir na Corann was accepted into the Erasmus+ programme, facilitated by Léargas, the national agency responsible for Erasmus+ in education in Ireland. Erasmus+ is the European Union's initiative aimed at enhancing education across Europe.

Mar chuid den chlár seo, beidh an deis ag ár múinteoirí taisteal chuig tíortha éagsúla san Eoraip chun comhoibriú ar na hoibrithe atá leagtha amach don tionscnamh. Le linn na seacht mbliana romhainn, díreoidh ár scoil ar na hoibrithe seo a leanas trí Erasmus+:

  1. Chun spreagadh agus comhoibriú na múinteoirí a fheabhsú trí scileanna boga a chur chun cinn agus neamhspleáchas níos mó a chur chun cinn ina n-cleachtais forbartha gairme leanúnacha.
  2. Chun cumas digiteach na múinteoirí agus modhanna teagaisc nuálacha a chur chun cinn.
  3. Chun samhail forbartha ceannaireachta a chur i bhfeidhm laistigh na scoile.
  4. Chun na deiseanna oiliúna agus forbartha atá ar fáil do bhaill foirne na scoile a uasmhéadú faoi chláir nua Erasmus+.
  5. Chun líonra na scoile a neartú ar leibhéil áitiúla agus Eorpacha, agus chun a rannpháirtíocht a fheabhsú laistigh den réimse oideachais Eorpach.
  6. Chun comhoibriú a chothú le heagraíochtaí oideachais eile, poiblí agus príobháideach, sa réimse oideachais scoile.

As participants in this programme, our teachers will have the opportunity to travel to various European countries to collaborate on the objectives outlined for the initiative. Over the next seven years, our school will focus on the following objectives through Erasmus+:

  1. To enhance teacher motivation and collaboration by empowering soft skills and promoting greater autonomy in their continuing professional development practices.
  2. To advance teachers' digital competencies and innovative teaching methodologies.
  3. To implement a leadership development model within the school.
  4. To maximize the training and development opportunities available to school staff under the new Erasmus+ programme.
  5. To strengthen the school’s network at both local and European levels and to enhance its engagement within the European education area.
  6. To foster collaboration with other educational institutions, both public and private, in the realm of school education

2024 / 2025

Sa bhliain acadúil 2024/25, beimid ag filleadh ar Valencia i mí Dheireadh Fómhair, le fócas ar leasa foirne, comhoibriú, agus sláinte iomlána ginearálta. Beidh an grúpa seo ag filleadh ar Blue Morpho, a bhí ag cur go mór le héifeacht na bliana seo caite. Rachaidh muid freisin ar ár dturas chéad uair go hOllainn, áit a mbeidh an foireann ag caitheamh ama i scoil Fhionlannach ag scrúdú teicneolaíocht dhigiteach agus modhanna teagaisc eile a úsáidtear ann chun cabhrú le feabhas a chur ar ár modheolaíocht teagaisc féin.

This academic year 2024/25 we will return to Valencia in October where the focus is on staff wellbeing , co-operation and general holistic health. This group will be returning to Blue Morpho who had a remarkable impact last year. We will also partake in our first trip to Finland where the staff will spend time in a Finnish school looking at digital technology along with other teaching  methodologies used there to help improve our own pedagogy.

2022/2023

Bealtaine 2023 – Valencia , An Spáinn

Our best trip yet happened this May again to Valencia , Spain. Criostóir , Ultan , Gearóid , Sadie , Nicole, Deirdre agus Fíona had a wonderful week in the yoga and holistic centre Blue Morpho. This was chosen to connect to our schools focus on Wellbeing and Mindfulness. The seven staff members returned to school on cloud nine after an amazing week which had a profound effect on their overall outlook and we were fortunate enough they spoke to the whole staff about the lessons learnt from the trip.

Múinteoir Sadie “They addressed Mindfulness and Wellbeing at an opportune time, as we as teachers were still managing the after effects of the Covid Lockdowns. It enabled us to experience the regulation, decompression strategies that we would practise first hand. The Eramus trip has informed and shaped my teaching. Giving the students time to absorb information, creating a discursive environment, teaching breathing and regulatory strategies as a whole class experience have become cornerstones of my classroom management and key elements in recognising the needs of my students”

Aibreán 2023 – Positano, An Iodáil

This year, our second trip to Positano, Italy, featured a new group of teachers: Caoimhe, Méabh, Niamh Ní B, Niamh Ní L, and Kelly. This group engaged in a comprehensive exploration of their interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships and how these dynamics shape their roles as educators. A common theme emerging from our previous Erasmus trips is that sharing this experience with fellow teachers has significantly enriched the sense of community within our school and enhanced our collective identity as educators in a broader European context.

Múinteoir Caoimhe “ I found this trip to be so enjoyable and got to know my colleagues in a much more meaningful way. I have found that these deeper bonds we share have really translated into the school context and I certainly feel a greater sense of community within the school as a result”

2021/22

Aibreán 2022 – Positano , An Iodáil

In April this year our first group of teachers went to Italy as part of the Erasmus+ programme. Áine Ní S , Áine F , Clár , Sineád and Ultan found the week incredibly beneficial working on team work , knowing themselves , resilience and self-confidence. The benefits from the workshop , along with the whole cultural experience added to the sense of commraderie they felt as a school staff coming home.

Múinteoir Clár “ Going into this experience as a young teacher and a relatively new member of staff I was a little nervous but it has been a wonderful experience that I have learnt so much from. Not only has my confidence grown but I feel like I have a much deeper relationship with my colleagues having gone on this trip with them”

Bealtaine 2022 – Valencia , An Spáinn

Méabh, Cristín, Niamh , Meaghan , Briain and Garan spent a week in Valenicia this May taking part in a work shop working on soft skills focusing on confidence , resilience and conflict resolution. They also worked on their own teaching methodologies as a group and found the reflection on their own teaching to be very helpful. They also found the experience made them reflect on being members of the wider European community , with Múinteoir Briain planning a move to Spain in the near future to develop on what he learned during Erasmus.

Múinteoir Méabh “I thoroughly enjoyed my experience on the Erasmus trip with my colleagues. The workshops enabled us to improve on a range of skills and methodologies used in both our teaching and personal lives and I have utilised these skills in my teaching to date. In addition, the course allowed us to develop our cultural understating and enhance cultural awareness by living in a different country
